Domain Name System
The DNS (Domain Name System) translates Internet domain and host names to IP addresses.
DNS automatically converts the names we type in our web browser address bar to the IP address of web servers hosting those sites.
It is basically a large database which resides on various computers and it contains the names and IP addresses of various hosts on the internet and various domains.
Working of DNS |
Domain Name System serves as the phone book for the Internet by translating human-friendly computer hostnames into IP addresses.
For example, the domain name "https://www.bteccsenotes.blogspot.in" translates to the address 172.217.31.1 (IPv4).
Users take advantage of this when they use meaningful "Uniform Resource Locators" (URL) and e-mail addresses without having to know how the computer actually locates the services.
